Macworld 2007
First of all, Happy New Year.
Since 65% of my visitors are PC users, many of you will not know what Macworld is. Well I'll explain it. Macworld is basically a conference where Mac users from all over the world attend. It's one week long and additionally, Apple CEO Steve Jobs does a keynote where he announces company updates and such. And no, I am not going. Why? It's about $1500 USD for registration. That's why. The point of this article? To predict what Mr. Jobs will announce. In previous keynotes, Steve Jobs has released new computers, new iPods, etc. This presentation is the most anticipated of all. Nobody knows for sure what will be released (except the folks at Apple, of course). Those lucky bastards. Anyway, here go my predictions.
1. iWork and iLife updates
This update is inevitable, iWork and iLife are updated every year. But I'll be more specific. iWork will continue to compete with Microsoft Office so I'm counting on a new Spreadsheets software which will compete with Excel. For iLife, I'd expect UI enhancements and perhaps more features on each software.
2. Mac updates
I expect Intel Core 2 Duo updates on the Mac Mini.
Hopefully an "ultra-thin" 12" MacBook Pro and some price drops.
3. New displays
We should see new displays with a built-in iSight and Front Row capabilities for those who have Mac Pros.
4. iTV
iTV may have a mention. If so, I'm hoping for TiVo-like capabilities. Unlikely though.
5. Leopard
Steve Jobs will probably unveil new Leopard features and possibly a release date. I'd expect an update to Boot Camp and some rather expected features to Leopard.
This is "Mac"world. And iPhone doesn't have much to do with "Mac". So no iPhone and no new iPods. However, Steve does, in fact, likes to surprise us.
I think there may be another keynote in March which would release the iPhone, new iPod, and iMac updates. But who knows.
