Summer 08

Well, I just wanted to give a brief update on my summer, and my future plans. I must mention, of course, how quickly grade eleven passed - similar to grade ten and grade nine. Since one school year is ten months, there are two months of summer. Let's say one school year is represented by a weight and one summer is represented by another weight...

In order to demonstrate how quickly summer passes, put these two weights on a pit of sand, and they will begin to sink. The weight representing summer will sink much faster obviously, and once it does, 80% of the weight representing one school year will still be above the sand. So if you understand how fast one school year passes, a summer is be significantly faster. Of course it's obvious, but it's interesting to put into perspective as such.

Anyhow, in January, I selected my courses for grade twelve, my final year of high school. Before the end of the year, we were given our timetables for the next school year. And here's my schedule:

Semester 1 Semester 2
Period 1: 11 University Biology
Period 2: Spare
Period 3: Lunch
Period 4: 12 University English
Period 5: Advanced Functions
Period 1: 12 University Chemistry
Period 2: 12 University Physics
Period 3: Lunch
Period 4: 12 University Biology
Period 5: Calculus

I have to take grade eleven biology since I did not get into to it last year. The first semester is going to be a breeze compared to the second semester obviously, but oh well, I am up for the challenge. And after grade twelve, which will be soon enough as we already proved earlier, I should be pursuing my studies at McGill University or the University of Toronto; unless I don't get accepted, which I cannot seem to anticipate. I plan to either practice in strictly mathematics and physics or aiming to go to med school and in that case, I would have to take courses such as organic chemistry and various biology courses instead. I am, however, interested in law, business, computer science, philosophy, and psychology but I cannot foresee a secure future in fields thereof. I know of many lawyers struggling to pay their rent; business is very broad and I wouldn't feel inclined to take courses on it while I believe it's mostly natural knowledge; there is a vast amount of people going into computers and only a few those people will be very successful in it; and similar to business, I would expect philosophy and psychology to have a lot of natural knowledge in it, and in that case, I do not feel like spending thousands on it.

In the summer, it's a time to not think about school, I suppose. To replace school, I am working at a sophisticated and prestigious golf course. While I am not working, I enjoy playing Playstation 3 and reading interesting non-fiction books and internet articles and sometimes fictional literature - but it has to be really good. I occasionally visit my grandparents and I am not aware of any significant family vacations this summer. So that's that.

Also, since I have a very good talent for programming websites, I am trying to formulate an idea that would appeal to the general public on the internet. Frankly, websites like Digg and Facebook are easy to make and I want to create another useful website; not a stupid copy of a website like Ebaumsworld. So, that's another job of mine this summer: to come up with a great idea. And thinking that all the ideas have been used would just defeat the purpose of motivation, wouldn't it? I've had some ideas in mind, but they were not as conspicuous as I would like them to be. If you have any ideas in mind and would like to collaborate with me, please contact me.

Most importantly, of course, I should polish this website a little more before I do anything else, haha. Have a good summer.
