Why Pirates beat Star Wars

I didn't believe it when I saw that
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (Let's abbreviate it to DMC) was beating
Star Wars Eposide III: Revenge of the Sith (We'll abbreviate this one to ROTS) in the box office. Like, I always thought of Star Wars being the most popular movie, however, although there are many people who love it, many people
hate it as well. In this article I will explain why DMC will beat ROTS...
I realized that
everyone enjoys pirate-type movies. Everyone finds them so fascinating and interesting. Well it's true, and I do the same. Star Wars is just sci-fi with laser swords. I suppose the laser swords cannot compete with normal swords. So I guess when people go to see DMC, they bring the whole family since they may be interested in that already. You probably already know that I really like ROTS, but my parents don't; so I wouldn't bring the whole family to that movie.
DMC is only rated PG, whereas ROTS is rated PG-13. This is a huge factor which enormously made an affect on the box office. Kids love going to the movies. And when they see a movie, they will probably like it, and then they will want to see it again, and maybe
again.
Finding Nemo, for example, did a fantastic job in the
box office - it's a kid's movie! Now, I don't know how DMC got rated PG, it should've easily been PG-13. This movie was more gory than I had expected. ROTS was rated PG-13, and I have no idea why. Because it's sad? That's just the plot. I don't recall seeing any blood in ROTS, except when you see Anakin burn, but that's not that anything extreme. I don't know if it's true or not, but I have been wondering if Disney paid MPAA (the rating company) to make DMC only PG. While I was watching DMC, I kept thinking to myself, "How can this only be PG?", like there are very intense pictures. Just that captain guy with tentacles forming from his face should make it PG-13.
ROTS wasn't in as many theaters as DMC. According to
The Numbers, when ROTS was first released it was playing in 3,661 theaters. DMC was playing in 4,133 theaters. That's a difference of 472 theaters. Now, let's do some math. DMC made $55,830,600 ($13,508 per theater) in its first day. ROTS made $50,013,859 ($13,661 per theater). Notice how ROTS was making around $150 more per theater. So if we multiply $13,661 by 4,133 theaters, we will get how much ROTS would've had if it was played in the same amount of theaters. ROTS would've made $56,460,913. You'd probably say, "Okay, so - that's not even a million more than DMC?". True, but DMC has been in 4,133 theaters for 20 days now. After 20 days, ROTS dropped down to 3,650. Seems like nothing, but it's a lot compared to not dropping to anything. So ROTS would've made $630,313 more if in 4,133 theaters (for one day). Now multiply that by 20 days and you get $12,606,260. Hence ROTS would've had $346,739,930 in 20 days and DMC had $334,133,670, but ROTS
really had $312,659,891 after 20 days. Big difference now and it will keep continuing.
Who knows? DMC may all of a sudden stop making as much money and might not beat ROTS after all! Not like I care, but I don't like worse movies beating better movies. I just feel sorry for all the people who spent $10 to see
Little Man; it's currently tied for 3rd of being the
worst movie of all time, (according to
IMDb). Well at least ROTS has a current better rating than DMC so I suppose people liked it more.
Now, we'll see if DMC ends up beating ROTS... Sorry for making this article so long, if I have to write an essay for English, I'll probably use this topic :D as I basically already wrote it.

By the way, all the data was provided by
The Numbers and
IMDb.
